Junior Data Engineer

Grainset Data now runs several projects for companies in Germany whose reports draw on SAP exports and online shop data, and we want an engineer working German hours on them. The new role is a Junior Data Engineer, full-time and remote from anywhere in the country. The rest of the team works from Boston, six hours behind.

Main tasks

• Build and maintain pipelines that load source data into a cloud data warehouse
• Write SQL and dbt models that turn raw tables into reporting tables
• Handle first loads, later changes and resent files so that no record is counted twice
• Add tests that compare model output with the source records
• Document what each table holds and where its data comes from

What we check for in your CV

• A degree in computer science, data science, mathematics or a related field, or equivalent training
• SQL with joins, GROUP BY and window functions
• Python for scripts or data processing
• At least one data project, at university, in an internship or at work

Not required, but useful

• dbt, Airflow or a similar tool
• Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks or Azure Synapse
• Git
