Your Responsibilities The opportunity: The purpose of this position is to contribute to the academic excellence and strategic development of Gisma University of Applied Sciences through high-quality teaching, impactful research, and active participation within the academic community.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping and delivering innovative programmes in Business Intelligence, Enterprise Data Strategy, and Data Governance, with a focus on integrating enterprise reporting architectures, data compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR), and master data management solutions into the curriculum.
Key Activities & Responsibilities: Module responsibility and teaching of Gisma’s Bachelor and Master programmes, particularly in the fields of Business Intelligence Systems, Enterprise Data Governance, Data Warehousing, Compliance & Ethics in Data, and Strategic Information Management, as well as examination, assessments, and student supervision.
Active participation in programme development, quality assurance, and the integration of relevant applied tools and methodologies into the curriculum.
Initiate, expand, and maintain cooperation with partners in industry and research organisations, particularly in enterprise data consultancy environments, corporate business intelligence hubs, IT governance councils, and big data infrastructure entities. Active engagement in academic administration and committee work.
Further development of a personal and institutional research profile in Business Intelligence Maturity, Data Governance Frameworks, Corporate Data Ethics and Compliance, or Enterprise Information Architectures, publication of results in high-quality journals, and engagement in public dissemination.
Support outreach activities, including student recruitment events and promotion of related business study pathways. Your profile For an appointment, you must fulfil all requirements according to Section 41 ff of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (BbgHG).
In addition, you demonstrate: Completed university studies in a relevant discipline such as Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, Computational Economics, Fintech, or Business Administration with a specialized finance focus.
Proof of extraordinary qualification for scientific work in the form of an outstanding doctorate and/or a strong record of high-impact, peer-reviewed publications. A minimum of three years of qualified professional experience, including at least two years outside a university environment, gained after a master’s degree or equivalent.
Proven university-level teaching experience, with competence in blended, online, and interactive learning methodologies. Student evaluations should reflect excellent pedagogical aptitude.
A strong affinity for cutting‑edge methodologies, software, and tools, specifically related to algorithmic trading platforms, financial programming (Python/R for finance), and decentralized blockchain architectures. A publication record in fields matching the professorship scope or relevant digital ecosystems.
Experience in developing and leading research projects, ideally with success in acquiring third‑party funding. Innovative perspectives for advancing research and curriculum in the specified professorship domain. Experience in curriculum development and accreditation processes is an asset.
