Remote Exploration Data Analyst

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Remote Exploration Data Analyst to join their globally distributed team, supporting operations in the Bloemfontein region. This position focuses on the interpretation and management of vast geological datasets generated from exploration activities. You will leverage advanced analytical tools and techniques to identify patterns, assess geological potential, and provide critical insights to the exploration teams. This is a fully remote role offering the flexibility to work from anywhere, contributing significantly to strategic exploration decisions without needing to be on-site.

Key Responsibilities

• Process, clean, and validate large geological, geochemical, and geophysical datasets.

• Develop and utilize statistical models and machine learning algorithms for data interpretation and anomaly detection.

• Create visualizations, maps, and reports to communicate exploration findings and trends effectively.

• Collaborate remotely with geologists and geophysicists to integrate data and refine exploration strategies.

• Maintain and manage geological databases, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.

• Stay abreast of new technologies and methodologies in data analysis for mineral exploration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Geoscience, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in data analysis, specifically within the mining or exploration sector.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy).

• Experience with geological databases and GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).

• Strong understanding of statistical analysis, data mining, and machine learning techniques.

• Excellent remote communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently.
