Your Team We are looking for a Sr. Data Engineer to join our Backend & Data Team — an expert who develops, maintains, and manages data processing pipelines to ensure consistent and efficient data delivery for downstream consumers, such as analytics or machine learning applications.

Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior developers, lead technical discussions, and contribute to team strategy and system improvements while addressing technical debt. Regular team and company-wide events to foster team cohesion.

Your playing field at Gini Data Pipelines and Integration: Develop, manage, and optimize data processing pipelines, integrating external data sources for enrichment and ensuring scalability, efficiency, and consistency for downstream analytics or machine learning.

Database and System Design: Create and maintain data models, schemas, and metadata; ensure databases meet scalability, safety, and efficiency requirements; collaborate with platform engineering for maintenance.

Backend Development: Design, implement, and maintain backend services, including architecture design, technology selection, and integration of software patterns, container technologies, and message brokers (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).

Quality and Optimization: Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend issues; identify performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and scalability challenges; support quality improvements.

Agile and Stakeholder Engagement: Engage in agile ceremonies, adapt to changing priorities, estimate tasks effectively, and communicate progress, risks, and challenges with stakeholders.

Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to improve backend systems and align with organizational goals.

Julia Partusch-Asik Recruiter & Dog lover julia.partusch@gini.net Skills to be successful 5+ years of experience in backend development, data engineering, or a similar role, with expertise in building and maintaining scalable systems.

Strong proficiency in programming languages like Java, Python, Scala, or Kotlin, as well as automation and CI/CD practices. Practical experience with diverse database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Kafka) and database optimization techniques.

Experience in designing and managing data pipelines, integrating external data sources, and ensuring data scalability and efficiency. Proficiency with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Podman) and orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes), as well as messaging systems (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka).

Excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills, addressing performance bottlenecks, and improving system scalability and security. Familiarity with agile methodologies, actively participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, while staying updated on emerging technologies and best practices.
