Senior Data Products - Data Engineer

ph3The Position /h3 pThe Data Products team is a team of data product specialists, data engineers and data stewards, providing a data sharing and analysis platform for medical data (clinical data and real world data). This platform is used by various teams within Roche. /p h3The Opportunity: /h3 ul liContribute to the full-stack development and maintenance of our critical internal platform, which centralizes and manages metadata for all medical data, including clinical and real‑world datasets. /li liChampion data excellence by ensuring strict adherence to the bFAIR /b principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) for all hosted datasets. /li liDesign and implement robust front-end and back-end features, developing scalable and powerful bREST APIs /b that extend the platform’s functional capabilities and support advanced tooling. /li liServe as a key technical thought leader and collaborator, designing innovative solutions and integrating essential third‑party technologies to drive the Data Products team’s strategic mission. /li liTranslate complex requirements from internal data scientists and external stakeholders into well‑defined, prioritized features, and execute end-to-end implementation within an Agile framework. /li liMaintain and continuously enhance automated tooling to streamline critical data lifecycle management, covering dataset onboarding, access control, usage restrictions, and secure data deletion protocols. /li liProactively research and implement cutting‑edge technologies to meet evolving business demands, ensuring the platform maintains a competitive and modern technological edge. /li liDeliver expert technical support and consistently ensure an exceptional user experience by focusing on high‑quality interfaces and intuitive feature development. /li /ul h3Who you are: /h3 ul liDemonstrated full-stack proficiency with deep expertise in bPython /b for back-end development and modernbJavaScript (ES2019+) /b for front-end architecture. /li liExtensive hands‑on experience with core web frameworks, specifically bReact /b (Next.js experience is a strong advantage) and bDjango /b. /li liExpertise in designing scalable bREST APIs /b and advanced proficiency in bSQL /b, coupled with experience managing relational database systems (ORM knowledge is a bonus). /li liSolid understanding of modern web development best practices, including robust web security implementation, strong focus on user experience (UX), and familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS. /li liProven ability to work effectively on a collaborative codebase, utilizing bGit /b or equivalent version control tools for source management. /li liFamiliarity with DevOps principles, including container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and established bCI/CD /b pipelines is highly desirable. /li /ul pbPlease note that no relocation package is offered for this position. /b /p pbRoche is an Equal Opportunity Employer. /b /p /p
