AI Futures has been exclusively retained to hire a Founding Machine Learning Engineer for an early-stage AI company building enterprise AI agents for financial institutions.

This is a high-impact opportunity to own some of the company's hardest ML challenges, with a particular focus on making AI agents reliable, trustworthy and production-ready for highly regulated enterprise environments.

The Role

• Own the ML and model layer behind production AI agents
• Improve agent reliability, consistency and trustworthiness
• Evaluate models and define the strategy around hosted vs self-hosted models
• Fine-tune models using proprietary and real-world production data
• Develop specialised models and agents for specific workflows
• Build approaches for evaluation, uncertainty and escalation
• Analyse production behaviour and continuously improve model performance
• Make foundational decisions around the company's long-term ML architecture and model strategy

The Candidate

• Strong background in Machine Learning, Applied ML or AI Engineering
• Deep understanding of LLMs and Generative AI
• Hands-on experience with fine-tuning, model evaluation and optimisation
• Experience or strong knowledge of model inference and self-hosting
• Strong Python and ML engineering fundamentals
• Experience taking ML systems from experimentation into production
• Strong understanding of probabilistic systems, evaluation and AI reliability
• Comfortable operating 0→1 and making technical decisions without an established playbook
• Startup, founding or early-stage experience highly desirable
• Financial Services experience is not required
