Tasks

For talents with an entrepreneurial mindset and the courage to shape the future, the 18-month "Start up!" Trainee Program offers space to learn and develop. We offer you a broad spectrum of insights into our organization, as well as the opportunity to leave your comfort zone and explore new topics in order to reach your full potential. Hit the ground running and steer your own career! You will complete 5 project assignments: the first within Finance & Data Science. Afterwards, you can select your subsequent projects individually across the entire group. Step out of your comfort zone! After your first assignment, you decide which topics you want to dive deeper into. During the program, we want you to leave your comfort zone and explore new fields within Deutsche Telekom. We will support you with an extensive network. Expand your network and experience the trainee community!

Fridays are reserved for "Magenta Friday." All trainees come together to work on strategic, innovative growth topics outside of their project assignments. Trainees work in different teams to organize events, promote their further development, or contribute to social initiatives. Go international! A leading digital telecommunications company without international experience? Never! One of your 3‑month assignments will be abroad. You decide which country and city yourself. Understand our business! Take the opportunity to get to know Deutsche Telekom's operational business. During our "Service Days," you can gain direct insights into how Deutsche Telekom works with customers. Choose your "Service Days," such as a day in customer service, a visit to a T‑Shop, or a stop at one of our service centers. You will gain direct insight into how we turn customers into fans every day.

Shape the future of Finance with Data & AI: Work on innovative Data Science and AI use cases for our Finance organization – from identifying and understanding business challenges to designing, developing and implementing data‑driven solutions with measurable impact. Turn data into intelligent solutions: Apply Data Science and AI methods such as machine learning, time‑series forecasting, Generative AI and advanced analytics to solve real‑world Finance challenges and contribute to scalable, customer‑centric solutions. Connect Finance, Data Science and technology: Work closely with Finance experts, Data Scientists and Engineers, translate business needs into technical concepts and ensure that solutions meet both business and technical requirements.

Drive projects from idea to impact: Take ownership in interdisciplinary and agile teams, contribute to solution design and implementation, coordinate stakeholders and help drive our Data Science and AI projects through to successful delivery.

Profile:

• You hold a degree in data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, engineering or a related quantitative field —graduates of all levels (Bachelor's, Master's, PhD) are welcome to apply.

• Data & Business Mindset: You are passionate about Finance and Business, combining strong quantitative and analytical skills with a business-oriented mindset. You are comfortable working at the intersection of Finance, Data Science, and technology.

• Problem Solving & Impact: You excel at understanding business challenges and translating them into data‑driven solutions with measurable impact. You take ownership to turn ideas into reality.

• Technical Knowledge: You have a solid understanding of Finance and Controlling concepts, combined with theoretical and practical knowledge of statistics, machine learning, and data analytics. You have hands‑on experience with Python. Knowledge of time‑series forecasting, NLP, Generative AI, or modern ML approaches is a plus.

• Focus on Employees: You are a passionate team player and enthusiastic about creating the best experiences for our employees by contributing to any different topics.

• Relevant Experience: You have gained at least 6 months of initial relevant internship or work experience in audit and/or consulting environments. Ideally, you have up to about 1 year of total relevant professional experience and want to targetedly advance your career within a trainee program.

• Understanding of Corporate Strategies: You understand how Finance, digitalization and Data & AI contribute to achieving corporate goals and are motivated to translate business challenges into data‑driven solutions with measurable impact.

• Intercultural Competence: Our Start up! community thrives on its internationality. Therefore, strong intercultural skills should be in your DNA.

• International Experience: Experience abroad — whether through studying abroad, work & travel, etc. — is a must (at least 3 months).

• Commitment and Entrepreneurial Spirit: As a Start up! trainee, you are passionate about driving change! Experience in social engagement and/or entrepreneurial projects is therefore very welcome.

• Language Skills: You are fluent in English, both written and spoken, at C1 level. German skills are a plus.
