Role overview

Staff-level Data Scientist role focused on accelerating execution for priority content investments and raising the quality of product decision-making. The position owns end-to-end analytics for emerging content surfaces such as Video, Groups, and Events—areas with limited historical data—while shaping data architecture and statistical methodology across the broader content portfolio. It is a hands‑on technical leadership role embedded within a product organization, partnering closely with product, engineering, design, and research stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end‑to‑end data science ownership for new content surfaces, including evaluating feature performance, identifying growth opportunities, and connecting insights across surfaces for portfolio‑level impact
  • Design and measure experiments, including non‑standard A/B tests and network experiments with bias controls, to inform feature and investment decisions
  • Generate strategic insights through exploratory data analysis to shape future investments or pivots in strategy
  • Build and evolve the data architecture and quality requirements for content data assets spanning supply, creators, viewers, entities, content types, and surfaces, partnering with Analytics Engineering on source‑of‑truth tables
  • Develop scalable metrics, dashboards, and artifacts that enable reliable, agentic analytics and faster team decision‑making
  • Restore and apply rigorous methodology around quasi‑experiments and advanced causal inference to distinguish true product impact from confounding factors

Requirements

  • Staff‑level or tech lead experience as a Data Scientist, ideally in social media or consumer technology
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Statistics
  • Demonstrated expertise in non‑randomized A/B testing, network testing, and advanced causal inference methods
  • Experience owning end‑to‑end product analytics, from opportunity identification and strategy through launch and measurement
  • Strong cross‑functional collaboration skills with Product, Engineering, and adjacent partners, plus the ability to operate as an autonomous technical leader
  • Expert proficiency in SQL and Python, including scientific computing packages such as numpy, pandas, and scikit‑learn
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analyses to executives and varied audiences

Benefits and work setup

  • Base salary range of approximately $190,000 to $283,000 annualized, depending on skills, experience, qualifications, proficiency level, and geographic location
  • Meaningful equity grant with quarterly vesting, beginning within roughly three months of start date
  • Choice of health plans, including an option that is fully covered for employees only, plus a concierge‑style primary care membership
  • Hybrid work model blending in‑office and remote time, with offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, New York, and London
