We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist role focused on building prototypes and production-grade data science / machine learning applications to generate measurable impact across business units in the pharmaceutical domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Build advanced data science and machine learning prototypes to validate new use cases in close collaboration with business stakeholders, rapidly testing feasibility and value.
- Support building production-grade data science solutions within cross-functional product teams, ensuring high technical quality and measurable business impact.
- Publish applied AI research in pharma to establish scientific credibility and foster a culture of excellence.
- Contribute to overarching initiatives such as AI strategy, monitoring key AI domains, business liaison activities, internal IT platform teams (e.g., MLOps or LLM platform), and academic collaborations.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in data science, mathematics, physics, computer science, or similar; advanced scientific degrees are desirable (e.g., PhD).
- 5 years of relevant experience with Python programming and common ML libraries (for Distinguished: 10 years ), e.g., scikit-learn , PyTorch , TensorFlow .
- Experience with software development and deploying models with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS , Databricks ).
- Expertise in business domains relevant for the pharmaceutical industry (e.g., Chemistry , (Molecular-) Biology , Pharmacology , Medicine-/Bioinformatics ).
- AI research experience at university or in industry labs with a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications and knowledge of new AI developments (e.g., Transformers , CNNs , LLMs , GNNs , Diffusion models , JEPA ).
- Excellent technical leadership and communication skills to conduct multi-team, cross-functional collaborations.
- Primarily remote , with occasional travel to the customer site near Stuttgart.
