Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Trust): Develop and productionize advanced Machine Learning models and infrastructure to protect Airbnb's community from fraud and ensure trust. Focus on designing scalable ML architectures, driving multi-quarter initiatives, and advancing state-of-the-art ML in trust and risk domains.
Location: Remote within the United States only; must reside in a state where Airbnb has a registered entity. Salary: $244,000–$305,000 USD Company Airbnb is a global platform connecting millions of hosts and guests, focused on building trust and safety through innovative technology and community standards.
What you will do Define and execute the long-term ML vision and strategy for Trust engineering. Lead and mentor ML and software engineers on complex architectural and modeling challenges. Develop and operate cutting‑edge ML models and pipelines for fraud detection and risk evaluation.
Work on advanced topics such as anomaly detection, multimodality, and Agentic AI. Requirements Must have 12+ years of industry experience in applied Machine Learning. 2-3+ years experience with LLMs and Agentic AI technologies. Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in CS, ML, or related field.
Strong programming skills in Scala, Python, Java, C++ or equivalent. Deep understanding of ML best practices, algorithms, and domains including NLP, computer vision, and anomaly detection. Must reside in a US state where Airbnb has a registered entity. Nice to have Experience in Trust and Risk domain.
Familiarity with Kubernetes and production ML infrastructure. Experience with test‑driven development and A/B testing. Competitive base salary with bonus, equity, and employee travel credits.
